Location
The lively town of Parikia is the capital of Paros. It is a charming town with traditional Cycladic architecture, built amphitheatrically around the port of Paros. The district of Kastro, built on the hill where the Frankish Castle of the town, built in the 1200s, is located, is particularly picturesque, full of white-washed houses with blue doors and windows.
The coastal road of Parikia is particularly lively, lined with many shops, restaurants, taverns, and cafes for all tastes. Parikia also offers many interesting sights, including the Frankish Castle and the famous Byzantine monastery of Panagia Ekatontapiliani (Church with a Hundred Doors), one of the most well-preserved Byzantine monuments in Greece. The Archaeological Museum of Paros is found in Parikia as well, exhibiting a collection of interesting Neolithic and Roman findings.
Just a few hundred meters from the center of Parikia is the beach of Livadia, a lovely, well-organized sandy beach with clear blue waters. Hotel Irene is located just a few meters from the beach of Livadia.
